A Memorial service for SSG Wallace L. (Wally) Harrier will be Memorial Day, May 26, 2014 at 1 PM at his home at 2445 Red Top Hill Road, Buchanan, TN 38222.   He was born on September 8, 1947 in Olean, NY and died on Feb. 26, 2014 at his Buchanan residence.   SSG Harrier had been serving as the 1st Sergeant for the 4th Bn, 1st Reg, Tennessee State Guard since 2008.  1st Sergeant Harrier enlisted in the U. S. Army after his 17th Birthday and planned to make a career of the military until an injury during the last half of his second tour in Vietnam changed his plans and future.  During his service, 1SG Harrier earned the following awards and decorations: the CIB, Drill Instructors badge, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Star and 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Bade, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal.  A military service will be conducted and Friends are welcome to attend and pay tribute to an American Patriot

Retired U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Wallace Harrier, 66, of Buchanan died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at his residence.

His wife, Donna E. Gay Harrier, survives. They were married on Sept. 8, 2007.

Born Sept. 8, 1947, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of the late Henry Wallace and Evelyn Carolyn Dutton Harrier.

Harrier served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the 1st Calvary Infantry. He was a member of VFW Post 1889 in Paris, a life member of Disabled American Veterans and a member of Tennessee State Guard and Honor Guard. He was a Christian.

He also leaves four daughters: Terry and Katherine Harrier, both of Buffalo, N.Y., Jerry Simpson of Paris and Cathearn Cooper of Munford; three sons: Michael Harrier of Atlanta, William E. Simpson of Whiteville and Gary Walker of Ashland, Miss.; one brother: Edward (Bonnie) Harrier of New York; 11 grandchildren, including a special grandson, Will Simpson of Paris.

His body was cremated.

A memorial service will be scheduled later.
