Vivian J. Mahan, age 86 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, December 6, 2020, at AHC of Paris.
Vivian was born January 12, 1934, in Blytheville, AR. She was raised by her mother, the late Lilla Florence Walker Ball and the late Louis Ball.
Vivian was married to Burl Mahan on March 10, 1951, in Blytheville, AR and he preceded her in death on November 9, 2015.
She is survived by two sons, David Mahan of Paris and Carter Mahan of Buchanan, TN; and brother, Barry Ball of Blytheville, AR. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Kevin Donald Mahan; sisters, Bonnie Hill, Mary Turley, and Jan Gurley; and brother, Stan Ball.
Vivian grew up in the very loving Walker and Ball families, where she was taught that God and family were especially important parts of life. One of Vivian’s lifelong dreams was to own her own business, and she did just that. In the early 1980’s, she and her husband purchased a small country Grocery store in Tunica, MS. They sold it in the early 2000’s and moved to Big Sandy, TN, where they both retired. In later years, they moved to Buchanan, TN, and then to Paris.
She was a member of Buchanan United Methodist Church and attended First Presbyterian Church in Paris. Vivian was an avid knitter and enjoyed Swedish weaving. She loved working outdoors, and her yard was her hobby.
It was a great loss to her when her middle son, Kevin, passed away. She loved both of her sons and husband very much. She had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes, and talk about her husband and boys. She also loved her Lord and Savior and going to church was an important part of her life. She will be truly missed by everyone who loved her.
