Virginia Mai Allen, age 73 of Henry, TN, died Tuesday November 1, 2016 at her residence.
Virginia was a loyal member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served as church secretary. She was an active member of the Henry Bunn FCE and a longtime volunteer for Lifeline Blood Center. She was an election precinct worker for over 40 years and was very active in the Henry County Fair. Virginia received the Loyal Patriot of Henry County Award in recognition of her many acts of service for Henry County. She was recently recognized by Sheriff Monte Belew as an outstanding citizen of Henry County and received a Gold Sheriff’s office Medallion. She last worked as a cashier/hostess at Ann and Dave’s Resturant in Paris.
Virginia was born August 24, 1943 in Trezevant, TN, the daughter of the late Clyde Finas Wilson and the late Mairine Arrington Wilson.
She was married on September 9, 1961 to Fred Gaylon Allen and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Dottie (Mark) McSwain of Jackson, TN, and Dana (Mike) Burnette of Paris, TN; two sons, Lonnie (Rhonda) Allen of Henry, TN, and Gary (Gwen) Allen of Paris, TN; one sister, Sue (Jim) LaFreniere of Cottage Grove, TN; two brothers, Finas (Sarah) Wilson of Mansfield, TN and James Wilson of Paris, TN; 11 Grandchildren, Scott McSwain, Matthew McSwain, Jennea Jenkins, Chris Allen, Katelyn Allen, Derek Allen, Adam Allen, Nathan Gaskins, Colin Gaskins, Dylan Burnette, and Ashley Long; and 3 great grandchildren, Emily Long, Alliegh Burnette, and Raylinn Burnette.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Wednesday November 2, 2016 at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 4125 Macedonia Rd, Henry, TN 38231, from 4 – 8 pm and Thursday November 3, 2016 from 9 - 11 am also at the Church. The Funeral Service will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 4125 Macedonia Rd, Henry, TN 38231, at 11:00 am Thursday November 3, 2016 with Bro. Kevin Gallimore and Dr. Mark McSwain officiating.
All of the grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The Henry Bunn FCE is named as honorary pallbearers.
Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.
