Virginia Johnson

Virginia Mae Johnson, age 96 of Buchanan, TN, formerly of Gordon, NE, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at AHC of Paris.

She formerly worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for many years before she became a Registered Nurse working in Casper, WY, and Cheyenne, WY. She loved children, sewing, and reading her Bible.

Virginia was born January 22, 1924 in Gordon, NE, to the late Chester Bennett Skanadore and to the late Grace Nern Skanadore.

She was married September 20, 1946, to her first husband, Floyd Albert Ostrander, who preceded her in death. She later married her second husband, James Johnson, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Janice (Robert) Barnett of Buchanan, TN; one son, Richard (Cindy) Ostrander of Lawrence, KS; two sisters, Carmen Reisdorph of Mobile, AL and Sharon Skanadore; four grandchildren, Nikki Scott of New Orleans, LA, Heidi (Sam) Farkasdi of Enterprise, AL, Ryan (Juliet) Ostrander of Cincinnati, OH, and Chris (Betsy) Ostrander of Lawrence, KS.

Along with her parents, first husband, and second husband, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles Robert Skanadore and Nern Skanadore.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Saturday, March 28, 2020, from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Chamberlain – Pier Funeral Home, 101 N. Main Street, Gordon, NE 69343.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 11:00 am at Fairview Cemetery in Rushville NE, with her son, Richard Ostrander officiating.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Fairview Cemetery.
