Retired Dayton Ohio Bag & Burlap Co. factory supervisor Vern E. Smith, 71, of Paris died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center.
The body was cremated.
A memorial service is planned July 6 in Dayton, OH. No local service or visitation is planned. Ridgeway
Funeral Home was in charge.
Born Jan. 16, 1942, in Dayton, he was a son of the late Ronald Eugene and Mary Agnes Welch Smith.
He served in the Army Reserve for several years and enjoyed golfing and NASCAR.
He leaves: Lifelong companion Ruby Lowe Rector of Paris; 2 Daughters,Pam (Fred) Choate of
Clarksville, Terri Smith of Dayton; one son: Vern W. “Butch” (Andrea) Smith of Bradenton, Fla.;
one sister: Mary A. “Toni” Diamante of Dayton; Six grandchildren: Melissa N. Johnson and fiancé Bryan Cooper, Kelsey A. (Justin) Pabst, Heather L. and Hailee L. Wion, Shelby A. Coate and Noah J. Smith; a great-grandchild: Lillie Ann Pabst; a sister-in-law: Jeannie Smith;; and special friend Renie Mullins.
He also was preceded in death by a sister: Marcia Ann Smith; and three brothers: Ronald W., Michael G. and Clyde C. “Butch” Smith.
