The funeral service for longtime factory worker and grocery store owner and operator Trenton “Sleepy” Ward of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Pam Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Garden.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Ward, 86, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Henry County Healthcare Center.
Born April 17, 1927, in Paris, he was a son of the late Toy Tillman Ward and Mabel Pillow Ward.
His wife, Rita Gertrude Kandula Ward, died Aug. 22, 2000. They were married on May 18, 1948.
Ward was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He served in the National Guard for nine years. He worked at Holley carburetor plant for 37 years and owned and operated Culpepper Grocery for 16 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, attended Cottage Grove School and attended Bethel College for three years.
He leaves two sons: Michael Lynn “Red Dog” (Linda) Ward of Buchanan and Henry Norman Ward of Paris; two sisters: Gerlene McBee of Cottage Grove and Thelma Sommerlin of Kasilof, Alaska; three brothers: T.T. Ward Jr. of Paris, Louie Ward of Memphis and Lonnie Ward of Smyrna; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.
