Totsye M. Baker age 82 of Springville, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at her residence.
She was a retired receptionist having worked at both the Rhea Clinic and the Paris Henry County Clinic. She also worked several years with the Henry County Extension Agency, where she volunteered with the Henry County Fair Board and various 4-H clubs. Totsye was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she taught several children and youth Sunday School Classes through the years. She enjoyed sewing and was a great cook.
Born January 1, 1938 in the Pleasant Hill Community of Henry County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Carter and the late Willie Walters Carter.
She was married September 9, 1956, to F.P. “Jeff” “Pig” Baker, who preceded her in death on December 11, 2006.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie Sweeney and her special friend Harry Baker of Mt. Juliet; a son, Nathan (Regina) Baker of Springville; a sister, Nelda Faye Turner of Springville, one sister-in-law, Joanne Carter of Vandyke; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Sweeney and special friend Jessica Witherspoon, Hannah (C.J.) Clayton, Alex (Tanner) White, Gracie Sweeney and special friend Tyler Hicks, Natalie Parish, and Abigail Baker.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, W.T. Carter, and Roy Carter.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Saturday, October 24, 2020, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Keith Nation and Rusty Turner officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Sweeney, Rick Turner, Rusty Turner, Kevin Carter, Chuck Carter, and David Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Buddy” Dinwiddie, Bobby Baker, Bodie Lampley, and Billy Brewer.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery in Springville.
