Thomas "Tom" Dowty

Thomas Ferguson Dowty, age 73, of Paris, Tenn., died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. He married Joy Merrell Dowty April 17, 1981, who survives.
He was a retired foreman from the Henry County Highway Dept. Dowty was a former Commander of the American Legion unit 89. He enjoyed fishing when his health allowed. He loved his family and enjoyed cooking fish for the Governor's Luncheon each year at the Fish Fry and many other community events.
He was the son of the late Crosby Dowty and the late Marie Nelms McMahan.
He is survived by his wife Joy Merrell Dowty; one son: Tony (April) Smith of Jackson, Tenn.,one sister Laverne (Nelson) Ramsey of Selmer, Tenn. and two brothers Billy Ray Dowty of Selmer, Tenn. and Bobby Dowty of Florida
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2014 and from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014. Funeral service will be Graveside at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014 , Jimmy Allison officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, Tenn.
