Thomas "Tom" Cave

Thomas “Tom” Cave, age 69 of Buchanan, TN, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at his residence in Buchanan, TN.

He had a 30-year career in military service to this country.  He was a highly decorated veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Marine Corps and in Operation Desert Storm and the Gulf War in the U.S. Army.  Tom was a member of American Legion Post 89, Amvets Post 45, and VFW Post 1889.  He volunteered for Moms cookies in Coal City, IL, and enjoyed fishing and camping.

Tom was born January 28, 1949, in Chicago, IL, to the late David Dinwoodie Cave and the late Sally Pearl Potter.

He was married November 12, 1994, to Barbara Alice Parks Cave, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Tammy (Keith) DeSanto of Cedar Lake, IN, and Shelby Cave of Buchanan, TN; foreign exchange student who was like a daughter, Panicha “Mint” Chantakitnukul from Thailand; two sisters, Betty Nordstrom of Knoxville, TN and Rose (Tim) Donohue of Wisconsin Dells, WI; one brother, Bob (Blondie) Potter of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Taylor Walters of Indianapolis, IN, and Gianna “GG” DeSanto of Cedar Lake, IN; special friend, Champ; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dave Cave and Leroy Cave.

Arrangements are being handled Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2019, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Chris Downing officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Parks, Mitchell Noll, Justin Noll, Keith DeSanto, Joe Trippiedi, and Chris Casey.

Burial with full military honors will be at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN.
