Thomas Eugene "Gene" Garvey

Thomas Eugene “Gene” Garvey, age 84 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 12, 2024, at AHC of Paris.

He had a long career in property development & management in Henry County, always wanting things to be bigger and better. He lived in Paris for 54 years but was always a Texan at heart. Gene had a love for animals, especially his large yellow cat that followed him everywhere. Over the years, he loved flying, sailing, skiing, and travel. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Paris. 

Gene was born March 10, 1940, in Dallas, TX, to the late Joseph F. Garvey, Sr., and the late Lucille Gartman Garvey. 

He was married in September 1969 to his wife of 55 years, Janet F. Garvey, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by his brother, Joseph F. “Joe” Garvey of Abilene, TX; and his wife’s cousin, Carroll Lashlee of Paris, TN. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. There will be no public visitation. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Rev. Joy Weathersbee officiating. 

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Paris, TN.
