Theodore Eugene “Ted” Hitt, age 85, of Buchanan, TN, died Monday, February 13, 2017, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Born November 6, 1931, in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Chester Lee “Ted” Hitt and the late Anna Klein Hitt.

He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force where he served as a radar navigator and later as an intelligence director. After retiring from the Air Force, Ted worked for the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service out of Dallas, TX, serving 5 states and several Indian Nations.

Ted was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and a 4 th Degree Knights of Columbus.  He was a lifetime member of the Amvets, American Legion, and VFW.  He was also a member of the TCU Alumni Association and the Military Officers Association of America.  Ted was a former Rotarian where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.  He was also a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was married on December 20, 1980, to Yvonne Nance Hitt, who survives of Buchanan, TN.   Along with his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Karen (Jim) Siddall of Burleson, TX, Kathleen Hitt of Arlington, TX, Carol (Charles) Eller of Arlington, TX, and Cheryl Worthey of Carrollton, TX; six grandchildren, Jefferson Siddall, Justin Siddall, Adam (Jeny) Siddall, Jessica Rodriquez, John Eller and Eric Eller.

In addition to his parents, Ted was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie NewKirk Hitt.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM Thursday, February 16, 2017, with the rosary at 7:00 PM.  A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Christopher  Rusin officiating and family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Cremation will follow the service, then burial will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, TX.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
