Terry O. Pierce, age 79 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.
Although born in St. Louis, Terry and his parents moved back to Paris, which he called home. He graduated from Grove High School in 1961 and attended Murray State University. For over 20 years, Terry worked in Pharmaceutical Sales for Kolb Brothers Drug Company. He then became part owner and manager of Lakeway Building Products, where he worked for 29 years, until retirement. Many people loved visiting his office there, filled with University of Tennessee memorabilia. Terry loved the University of Tennessee, never missing a football game home or away in his UT van.
He was a lifelong prankster, always bringing people laughs as he pranked and joked with his friends and family. He served for 24 years on the Henry County Election Commission, much of that time as Chairman, and also served as Chairman of the Henry County Democratic Party. Terry served as Chairman of the Paris Henry County Public Utility District for many years until the time of his death. He was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge 108, where he served as treasurer for years. He was a member and former President of the Paris Rod & Gun Club. Terry loved the people and community of Henry County and served them for years.
Terry was born March 26, 1943, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Carlton Pierce and the late Lola Dale Dunlap Pierce.
He was married on December 9, 1962, to his wife of 60 years, Jo Lynn Seymour Pierce, who survives, of Paris.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by his two daughters, Teri Lynn (Jeff) Atkins of Paris, and Maurie Ann (Robb) Mitchell of Paris; five grandchildren, Pierce Atkins, Perry O. Atkins, Paul D. Atkins, Rachel Mitchell, and Ryan Mitchell; one sister-in-law, Jackie Swayne of Paris; one brother-in-law, Steve (Pam) Seymour of Kingsland, GA; two nephews, Chad (Brittany Evans) Seymour of Huntsville, AL, and Chuck Seymour of Kingsland, GA; special cousins, Tommy (Robin) Pierce and Linda Pierce; and many other Pierce and Dunlap cousins.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with John Dale, Dr. Trent Bullock, and Dale Joyner officiating.
Named as honorary pallbearers are Don Bell, Jerry Doc Hayes, Don Ridgeway, Ray Norwood, Brent Greer, Eddie Wilson, Charlie Mitchell, Tae Eaton, Kelly Brown, and Lexie Tyler.
Cremation will follow the funeral service.
