Sylvia Hardy

Sylvia Hardy, age 80 of Buchanan, TN, died Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan, and a former member of Seminole First Baptist Church in Lake Seminole, FL. She was a retired school bus driver for the Naperville School District in Naperville, FL, and a former school bus driver for Jackson-Madison County Schools in Jackson, TN. Sylvia was very active in her church and community. She enjoyed teaching line dancing, loved the beach, reading, singing in the choir, and was an avid card player.

Sylvia was born March 12, 1939, in Hartsville, SC, to the late James Robert Stogner and the late Alice Harrelson Stogner.

She was married on April 8, 1961, to Carson Hardy, who preceded her in death on December 1, 2014.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Tom) Wynn of Greenville, TX, and Cheryl (Don) Cook of Palmetto, FL; one son, Steve (Kristie) Hardy of Buchanan, TN; one brother, Robert (Pat) Stogner of Knoxville, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Visitation will continue Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, 13700 Highway 79, Buchanan, TN 38222. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 11:00 am at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, with Larry Dukes and Jerry Lee officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Hardy, Tom Wynn, Gary Fletcher, Skeeter Boyd, Lee Wayne Boyd Sr., and Larry Crews.

A private family entombment will follow the service in Jackson, TN.
