Stella Ruth Hutchens, age 85 of Puryear, TN, died Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Christian Care Center in McKenzie, TN.
She retired after many years as the owner & operator of both Hutchens Plant Farm and Hutchens Trailer Park in Puryear, TN. Stella was a longtime member of Puryear Baptist Church. She was a hard worker who enjoyed gardening. She loved mowing, greenhouse work, and growing daylilies.
Stella was born October 19, 1935, in Gleason, TN, to the late Bill Sawyers and the late Norene Carrington Sawyers.
She was married March 24, 1956, in Corinth, MS, to Samuel Charles Hutchens, who preceded her in death on June 15, 2008.
She is survived by her brother, Will (Joyce Boyd) Sawyers of Cottage Grove, TN; her granddaughter, Angel Hutchens Evitts; and one great grandchild, Avery Evitts.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Dale Hutchens; two sisters, Ruby Frances Sawyers, and a sister in infancy; and one brother, John Sawyers.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Chad Kennedy and Dale Paschall officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Paschall, Steve Sawyers, Jeff Moody, Bob Dufresne, Joe Smith, Andy Paschall, and Gary Paschall.
Burial will be in Paschall Cemetery in Puryear, TN.
