Sandra Kay Myers, age 75 of Puryear died Saturday, October 15, 2022, at her home.
Sandra was a long-time member of Puryear Christian Life Church, formerly Puryear United Methodist Church in Puryear, TN, where she was a devoted servant to the Lord, teaching Sunday School and serving as its treasurer for over 37 years. She was a dedicated employee of the Henry County General Sessions and Circuit Court Clerk's offices as a deputy clerk for over 40 years working alongside her husband, Ron, for most of that time. Sandra was an avid reader and loved books. She enjoyed puzzles, cooking, sewing, painting, embroidery, gardening, and planting flowers. She loved watching western movies, listening to gospel and bluegrass music, studying history and the Bible, and spending time with her large family, friends, and sweet fur babies. She had a deep love for her country and enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach. She was a kind and faithful, extraordinary Christian woman who spent her life's work being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. For those who knew her best, she was “the fairest person we knew.” The world is now less without her.
Born August 9, 1947, in Whiteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Percy Ward and the late Mary Ellen Cayton Ward.
Sandra married Thomas Rondall “Ron” Myers August 2, 1980, who preceded her in death August 17, 2020.
She is survived by two daughters Kelley (Michael) Day and Jennifer Russell both of Puryear, TN; one son Patrick Veteto of Id; three sisters, Joyce (K.L. “Lud”) Leiner, Norma Jean Pass, and Mary Ward Harman; five brothers, Raymond (Dorothy) Congleton, Jerry (Rosanne) Ward, David Thomas “Tommy” Ward, Terry (Sue) Ward, and Alton (Terrie) Watson; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Tyler) Edwards, Rachel Jordan, Christopher Jordan and Emily Veteto; eight great grandchildren, Kaylee Joe Edwards, Carter Thomas Edwards, Tyler Jordan, Ryder Jordan, HarperAnne Jordan, Maelee Mallory, Cooper Mallory, and Luka Veteto; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her yorkie, little Dixie Bell; and her cats, Stella and Stubby.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy E. Congleton and James “Jimmy” Congleton; and her fur baby, little Maddie.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Thursday, October 20, 2022, after 1:00 pm until the time of the service. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Chad Kennedy and Russell Ragsdale officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry Ward, Tommy Ward, Terry Ward, Alton Watson, Tyler Edwards, Caleb Ward. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Michael Day, Raymond Congleton, and Brian Sykes.
Burial will be in Puryear City Cemetery.
