Rowena Roney

Alice Rowena Roney, age 79 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris.

She was a homemaker and member of Grace Baptist Church in Paris.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved her grandchildren.

Rowena was born March 26, 1939 in Cottage Grove, TN to the late Edgar Wales Robbins and the late Elsie Louise Hopkins Robbins.

She was married on April 30, 1958 to Marion Elroy “Shorty” Roney who survives of Paris, TN.  Beside her husband, she is also survived by three daughters, Debbie (Jose) Villanueva of Lake City, TX, Lisa (Troy) Pritchett of Paris, TN, and Lori (Mark) Watkins of Almo, KY; two sons, Joe (Dee Ann) Roney of Henry, TN, and Melvin (Patricia) Roney of Paris, TN;  two sisters, Georgia Ramsay of Paris, TN, and Priscilla Chapman of Paris, TN; four brothers, Monroe (Margie) Robbins of Paris, TN, Telly Robbins of Santa Clara, CA, Louis (Ann) Robbins of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Eddie (Tina) Robbins of Paris, TN; one step sister, Carolyn Grooms Yarbrough of Sun City, AZ  two step brothers, Billy (Peggy) Grooms of Paris, TN, and Tommy Grooms of Milwaukee, WI; 20 grandchildren, Shawn Roney, Phillip Roney, Jossey Villanueva, Jessica Solorio, Stephanie Caldwell, Ryan Roney, Braden Roney, Cody Roney, Mary Roney, Veronica Whitehead, Eddie Chapman, Joshua Gates, Alice Wozniak, Tyler Pritchett, Sage Pritchett, Brandon Carter, Amber Carter, Chynna Haas, Emma Watkins, and Samuel Watkins;  22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Hollingsworth Ross, Ruby Evans, and Cindy Robbins; one brother, Wales Robbins; one step sister, Barbara Johnson; and two step brothers, Robert Grooms and Jimmy Grooms.

Arrangements are being handled Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.   Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4 – 8 pm and on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 form 9 – 11 am.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Thacker officiating.

Pallbearers will be Braden Roney, Ryan Roney, Phillip Roney, Brandon Carter, Matthew Garrett, and Noah Young.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
