Ronald Frankin “Ron” Harber, age 63, of Southaven, Miss., formerly of Paris, TN, died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven, Miss.
He was married August 26, 1972 to Melanie Bennett Harber, and she survives.
Ron graduated in 1970 the first graduating class from Henry County High School. He was a 1975 Union University Graduate. He received his Master of Divinity in 1977 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary then received his Doctor of Ministry in 1985 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Ron pastored various churches in TN from 1977 to 1993. He was a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains since 2001. He was a Former Hospital Chaplain in West TN serving in McKenzie, Lexington, Jackson, & Memphis. He was the current Hospital Chaplain for Baptist Memorial Hospital Desoto in Southaven from 2007 until present. He was also a current Adjunct Professor for Union University. He served as Past President of the Executive Board of Mississippi Baptist Chaplains Association. Ron was a Member of Desoto Hills Baptist Church of Southaven, The Association of Professional Chaplains, The TN Suicide Prevention Network and The American Association of Christian Counselors. Ron loved music, fellowship, his family and God.
Ron was born May 27, 1952 in Dyersburg, TN to Parents, Billy Harber Sr. and Hazel Butler Harber of Paris, TN.
Besides his wife and parents, he is also survived by his Three Sons, Paul (Danyel) Harber of Paris, Tenn, Matthew Harber & fiancee' Annette Marin of Frisco, Texas, John Harber of San Diego, Calif; One Brother, Bill (Kay) Harber, Jr. of Paris, Tenn; Sister-in-law, JoAnn Harber of Paris, TN; Grandchildren, Olivia Harber, Noah Harber and Izzy Harber; and Father-in-law, Walter Bennett of Dresden, TN.
Ron was preceded in death by a Brother, David Harber and Mother-in-law, Mary Holmes Bennett.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 12 – 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Paris, TN. The Funeral Service will be at First Baptist Church in Paris, TN at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
Dr. Randy Phillips and Steve Edmonds will officiate. Pallbearers will be listed here shortly.
Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.
