Roger Alvin Owens

Roger Alvin Owens, age 74 of McKenzie, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his residence in McKenzie.

He retired as a welder from Goodyear Tire.  He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Henry, TN. Roger enjoyed horses and was a member of the Henry Saddle Club.

Roger was born June 7, 1949, in Dyer County, TN, to the late Edward J. Owens and the late Mary Holland Owens.

He was married June 7, 1975, to Peggy Ann Swofford Owens, who died February 6, 2023.

He is survived by one daughter, Amber (Richard) Owen of McKenzie, TN; two sisters, Rose Owens of Paris, TN, and Gloria (Jerry) Muzzall of Henry, TN; two brothers, Jim (Sharon) Owens of Greenville, SC and Robert Owens of Paris, TN; and three grandchildren, Kaiden Owens, Chasden Owens, and Essie Temple Owen.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Paul Owens; and two grandchildren, Coach Owens Morley and Pax Roe Owen. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Emily Walker officiating.

Burial will follow in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Henry Midway Road in Henry, TN.
