Robert Owen Scarbrough, age 87 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Morningside of Paris.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam era, who retired after 21 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Paris, TN, and a member of the Friendship Sunday school class. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a lifelong master bridge player, enjoyed playing golf, and loved to travel.
Robert was born January 3, 1933, in Paris, TN, to the late Owen Travis Scarbrough and the late Lovie Cox Scarbrough.
He was married August 30, 1953, to his first wife, Ona Dell Milligan Scarbrough, who preceded him in death in December 1958. He was later married to his second wife, Patti Vanderpool, who also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Ann (Malcolm) Young of Portland, OR; his son, Arthur Owen Scarbrough of Bend, OR; his children he raised in life, Bryon (Audrey) Copp of Portland, OR, Charla (Noah) Bason of Washington, DC, and their children Kai, Grant, and Isla Bason.
In addition to his parents, his first wife, and his second wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, James Robert Scarbrough; and twin sons who died at birth, Richard Scarbrough and Robert Owen Scarbrough, Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN, with Randy Stephens officiating.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Memorial Cemetery.
