Robert Gene "Bob" Thompson

Robert Gene “Bob” Thompson, age 80 of Paris, TN, died Monday, April 10, 2023, at Henry County Medical Center.

He was a US Army veteran serving in Vietman and was a member of the VFW.   He formerly worked at Southern Clay, McCartney Produce, and Kroger. He loved watching all sports, especially baseball and was a Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers fan.  He also formerly coached the Laird’s Brick Company little league team.   Bob enjoyed collecting sports cards, and owned Double Play Baseball Card Shop, which was the first card shop in Paris.  He also loved music, and UFO and alien memorabilia. 

Bob was born February 26, 1943, in Hazard, KY to the late William Thompson and the late Martha Mills Thompson.

He was married November 11, 1967, to Nila Jean Franklin Thompson, who survives, of Paris.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Jeff (Janie) Thompson of Bradford, TN, and Randy (Teri) Thompson of Paris; two sisters, Sue Kreplin FL, and Sandra ChitJian of WI; one brother, William “Billy” (Becky) Thompson of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Cady Dawson, Tyler Snider, Dylan Thompson, Brianna Thompson, and Logan Thompson; and three great grandchildren, Bryson Dean, Briley Dean, and Jenna Kate Dawson.

Besides his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Dean.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 1 – 3:30 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 3:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Eric Keheller officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Thompson, Randy Thompson, Tyler Snyder, Dylan Thompson, Logan Thompson, and Jake Dawson.  Cady Dawson, Brianna Thompson and Bill Adams are named as an honorary pallbearers. 

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris.
