Robert "Bob" Glen Stickler, Sr., age 88, of Puryear, TN, and North Chicago, IL, died Friday, October 14, 2016, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.
He was born September 19, 1928, in Waukegan, IL, to Bernard Roy Stickler and Alice Witte Stickler. He grew up in North Chicago, IL, where he met his wife of 68 years, Evelyne Harazak Stickler. Bob raised his family in North Chicago and spent his retirement years in Puryear.
Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a career police officer and retired with the rank of sergeant from the North Chicago Police Department after 21 years of service, and also retired from the security force of the North Chicago VA Hospital. He served as President of the North Chicago Police Department Pension Board.
In addition to his wife Evelyne of Puryear, Bob is survived by his loving family, Sally Stickler Myers of Puryear, Robert Stickler, Jr. of Waukegan, IL; Michael (Maureen) Stickler of Puryear, Lawrence (Therese) Stickler of Wadsworth, IL; and James (Christine) Stickler of Wadsworth, IL; one sister, Lois (Carl) Streed of Missouri; one brother, Wayne (Faye) Stickler of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bernard Stickler, Jr., and one grandson, Zachary Stickler.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. He will be cremated. Services in Paris are pending and will be announced later. Burial arrangements at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL, are also pending.
