Robert Smith

Robert Franklin Smith, age 85 of Springville, TN, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

He was a self-employed cabinet maker.  He also formerly owned and operated several restaurants.  He was a US Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Paris.  He loved to cook, fish, and enjoyed woodworking.

Robert was born December 10, 1932, in Pink Hill, NC, to the late Edd Smith and the late Annie Louise Strickland Smith.

He was married March 2013 to Betty Sartain Smith, who survives, of Springville, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by four children, Shelia (Lee) Core of Ringgold, GA, Melissa Smith of Millersville, TN, Gary W. Smith of Nashville, TN, and Timothy Smith of Nashville, TN; three stepchildren, Jeri Smith of Paris, TN, Karen (Jon) Richard of Atlanta, GA, and Neil (Paula) Sartain of El Paso, TX; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Tiffany Smith.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Visitation will continue Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, TN, with the funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with David Kemp officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Burial will follow in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
