Sanders, 80, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his residence.
His wife, Helen Morris Sanders, survives. They were married in September 1973.
Born Jan. 19, 1934, in Portage, Mich., he was a son of the late Glenn and Esther Anna Louise Doege Sanders.
Sanders was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Great Mills, Md. He was a member of VFW Post 1889 and the Moose Lodge in Paris.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter: Leigh (Lon) Wille of Merrimac, Wis.; one son: Rick Sanders of Middleton, Wis.; three sisters: Patrick Johnson of Madison, Wis., Dixie Connors of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Betty Jean Sanders of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step granddaughter; and one step great grandson.
Two brothers also preceded him in death.
