Retired CSX Railroad welder Robert Joseph Alcock Jr., 75, of Buchanan died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
His body was cremated.
His wife, Nancy Forbes Alcock, survives. They were married Nov. 30, 1968.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home. No local service is scheduled. Burial will be in New York at a later date.
Born Nov. 2, 1937, in Auburn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert Joseph Alcock Sr. and the late Evelyn Alice Trumble Alcock.
A family member said Alcock was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters: Bobbi Alcock of Liverpool, N.Y., and Sara (Bruce) Gray of Johnstown, N.Y.; one son: Grover (Amy) Alcock of Cayuga, N.Y.; two sisters, Ethel Tucker of Titusville, Fla., and his twin, Rebecca (Donald) Sanderson of Buchanan;
Five grandchildren: Amanda (Joe) Merckling, Katielyn Alcock, Brent Gray, Makayla Gray and Kora Alcock; one great-grandchild: Annabelle Merckling; a special nephew: Donald (Karin) Sanderson of Dover; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A sister, Lavinia Tilton, also preceded him in death.
