Richard W. Watson, Sr.

Richard Wayne Watson, Sr., age 72 of Mansfield, TN, died Sunday. February 9, 2025, at his residence.

Richard was a retired plumber. Before his health declined, he enjoyed hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed watching TV, especially westerns. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

He was married July 1, 1970, to Mary Lou Brooks Watson, who survives of Mansfield, TN.

Richard was born July 1, 1952, in Chicago, IL, to the late Marvin Sylvester Watson and the late Betty Irene Shaunessy.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is also survived by his two children, Katie Overby of Paris, TN, and Richard Wayne Watson, Jr. of Mansfield, TN; three sisters, Diana (Bill) Hargrove of Paris, TN, Faye (Robert) Warren, of McKenzie, TN, Barbara Ward of Huntingdon, TN; two brothers, Ronald Watson of McKenzie, TN, and James Watson of Dresden, TN; eight grandchildren, Andreanna, Tyler, Hunter, Jordan, Gage, Gavin, Jonah Grant, and Allie; and eight great grandchildren, Landon, Layla, Emerson, Knoxleigh, Hailyn, Kason, Maddie, and Amara Rose.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie J. Wade; a sister, Sherry Tillman; and three brothers, Michael Watson, Marvin Watson, and Roger Watson.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. His memorial service will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Ed Long officiating.
