Retha Mae Wilcox

Retha Mae Wilcox, age 85, originally from Big Sandy, TN, died on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Huntingdon Health and Rehab Center in Huntingdon, TN.

Retha was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Throughout her life, Retha showed sacrificial love and generosity to provide care and comfort to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved receiving treats like chocolate and Little Debbie Cakes, accompanied by her favorite, a cold Diet Coke. Retha ended every phone call or visit with family by stating, “I love you.”

Born September 27, 1938, in Paris, TN, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Perry and the late Mary Christopher Perry.

Retha is survived by her son, David (Christine) Head of Clinton, Maryland; her two grandchildren, Amber (Brian) Crouch and Courtney (Jimmy Lowery) Wood of Paris, TN; and four great-grandchildren, Bayleigh Thompson, Jayden Tharpe, Bennett Crouch, and Kynlee Lowery. She is also survived by her niece, Kimberly (Lee) Perry and nephew, Randall Perry, both of Lexington, TN.

Retha will be fondly remembered by close friends Shelby and Gwin Pafford of Big Sandy, TN. 

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Wilcox, her brother, Eddie “Junior” Perry, and her sister-in-law, Retha Ann.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, PO Box 788, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be held Monday, September 2, 2024, from 4 until 7 pm, and continue Tuesday, September 3, 2024, after 10 am until the time of the service. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11 am with Carlton Gerrell officiating.

Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Brian Crouch, Terry Crouch, Bennett Crouch, Gwin Pafford, Jimmy Lowery, and Jayden Tharpe. 

Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.
