It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Pierce announces his passing due to complications from Alzheimer's on May 30, 2019, at the age of 84. He died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, TN.
He was born January 10, 1935, in Paris, TN, to the late Charlie Lemuel Pierce and the late Hessie Lee Turner.
A native of Paris, Raymond retired as part owner of Pierce Building Company alongside his brothers Billy and Bobby, where he built many homes in Paris, TN. He was a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and uncle to many. He loved watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, telling jokes, driving around town, and hanging out at Wilson's grocery, catching the latest news with friends. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Charles Edward Pierce, Herman Lewis Pierce, and Orville Lee Pierce; paternal grandparents, Oliver Pierce and Emma Redden; and maternal grandparents, James Turner and Mollie Webb.
Surviving family members include his wife of 39 years, Fannie Latilda “Tillie” Ross Cox Pierce and their son, Charles Landon Pierce; his sons, Raymond Franklin “Frank” Pierce II, Lance Howeth Pierce, and their mother, Diana Kay Kemp Pierce; stepchildren, Lori (Marty) Lynch, Suzie Cox Forsythe, Shane (Laurie) Cox, Stacey (Ginger) Cox, and Bill (Dao) Cox; grandchildren, Brynn, Bailyn, and Callie Pierce, Samarra and Zachary Lynch, Blake Cox, Houston Forsythe, Connor Cox, Beck and Brady Cox, and Lincoln and Kennedy Cox; siblings, Lillian Hastings, Margie Dyer Curd, Billy Pierce, and Bobby Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019, from 4 pm to 7 pm with the funeral service to follow at 7 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN. 38242. The body is to be cremated with a private family burial to be held at a later date.
