Peggy S. Watkins, age 83 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center.
She retired after working many years as a housekeeper for the Paris Landing State Park. Peggy was a 50-year member of the Eastern Stars, who enjoyed cooking and loved her family and grandchildren.
Peggy was born December 13, 1937, in Flint, MI, to the late Herman Rushing and to the late Anna Mae Dispennett Rushing.
She married on November 10, 1956, to her late husband Harold Wayne Watkins, who preceded her in death, November 18, 1992.
She is survived by her two sons, Charlie Watkins of Paris, TN, and Richard (Rhonda) Watkins of McKenzie, TN; and eight grandchildren, Meredith (Bryan) Scott of Hendersonville, TN, Savanna (Chris Brewer) Watkins of Hendersonville, TN, Amber Thomas of Henderson, KY, TN, Brittany Watkins of Camden, TN, Deanna Watkins of Orlando, FL, Cody (Jessica) Houston of Mckenzie, TN, Jarrett (Ashley) Houston of Mckenzie, TN, and Danyel Houston of Orlando, FL.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rosa Lee Jones; and three brothers, Raymond Rushing, David Lowery, and Buddy Rushing.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Her body is to be cremated. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Her memorial service will be Friday, May 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Steve Gallimore officiating.
Burial will follow in Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, MO at a later date.
