Peggy Avery

Peggy Jean Rutland Avery, age 81 of Puryear, TN, died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY.
She was born on September 16, 1934, in Ft. Henry, TN, to the late Guy Albert Rutland and the late Marie Evie Houston Rutland.
Peggy was married August 2, 1958 to William Marvin Avery Jr., who preceded her in death on December 8, 2012.
She was a lifelong United Methodist.
Peggy graduated from Almo High School in Almo, KY, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad.
She was a former Southern Bell Operator in Murray, KY. She was also a former a PBX Operator at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. She retired from BB&T Bank, formerly People’s Bank, in Murray, KY, as a Systems Clerk.
Peggy provided expert advice to the family farming and timber operation. She was well known and had vast wisdom in the areas of agriculture and horticulture, and took great pride in making her home and yard immaculate. In her adult life, she was devoted to her beloved husband of nearly 55 years, and her three children. She took great joy in cooking and providing meals for her family, and was a master seamstress, always sewing and providing clothing for her household.
She is survived by her One Daughter, Dr. Melissa (David) Vosche' Rutland Avery Webb of Nicholasville, Ky.; Two Sons, William Herbert Avery of Puryear, Tenn., and Attorney Anthony Marvin Avery of Maynardville, Tenn.; Two Brothers, Don Ray (Leta) Rutland of Murray, Ky., and Jimmy Scott (Martha) Rutland of Dexter, Ky.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Louise (Frank) Rutland Wofford.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where a Graveside Service will be held at the Avery Family Cemetery, 12135 Old Paris Murray Road, Puryear, TN 38251, at 1:30 PM Sunday, July 31, 2016. There will be a gathering of family and friends proceeding the graveside service.
Mike Wimberley will officiate.
Interment will be at Avery Family Cemetery in Puryear, Tenn.
