Pearline Henry Travis

Pearline Henry Travis, age 74 of Paris, TN, died Monday, June 10, 2019, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was a homemaker and a member of Progressive Baptist Church in Paris.  Pearline loved cooking, especially at church, and was known for her chow chow and pear preserves.  She enjoyed watching game shows on television and taking care of others.

Pearline was born September 23, 1944, in Bell City, KY, to the late Chelsey Henry and the late Helen Clark Smith.  She was raised in the Whitlock community of Paris, TN.

She was married to James D. Travis, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2001.

She is survived by her seven children, Juanita (Melvin) Knighton of Cataula, GA, Tracie Holt of Nashville, TN, James (Marianne) Wells of Memphis, TN, Michael (Vera) Travis of Madison, TN, James E. Travis of Paris, TN, Everett (Nikki) Travis of Washington, D.C., and Carlos (Tiffany) McCutcheon of Paris, TN; two sisters, Alma Silvertooth of Detroit, MI, and Diane Jones of Miami, FL; three brothers, Clarence Fowler of Paris, TN, Jerry Clark of Paris, TN, and Donnie (Michelle) Smith of Chesapeake, VA; 16 grandchildren, Demetris (Angela) Knighton, Maurice Knighton, Zantari Travis, Kiara Travis, Tylerick McCutcheon, Cortesta Nubill, Taveion McCutcheon, Tremaine Floyd, Caleb McCutcheon, Tianna McCutcheon, Jada Travis, Cayden Travis, Kendal Travis, Moira Travis, Gabrielle Travis, and Nia Travis; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a huge extended family in Paris community.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Jackie Travis and Shelia Travis; one son, Donnell Travis; one sister, Joann Owens; and four brothers, Herman Henry, Fred Henry, Robert Lee Henry, and Harry McCall.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Saturday, June 15, 2019, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 401 Irvine Street, Paris, TN 38242.  The funeral service will be Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Richard Adkisson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Louis Long, Franklin “Chubby” Perry, Jeff Marshall, Corey Hartsfield, Khris Dumas, Terry Kendall, Quincy Boyd, Chris Nored.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Paris, TN.
