Paul Daniel Rushing, age 85, of Puryear, Tenn., died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Palmyra Healthcare Center in Palmyra, Tenn.

He was a member Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Buchanan, TN and was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War.   He retired from General Motors where he was forklift operator.  Before his health declined he enjoyed hunting and fishing.   His wife knew him as a Prayer Warrior who’s best friend was Jesus Christ.

Born in Halls Valley, TN on August 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Rushing and the late Edna Phifer Rushing.

He married October 19, 1996 to Joyce Cope Rushing, who survives.  Besides his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Pauline (Don) Salazar of Pontiac, Mich, and Susan Clary of Paris, Tenn;  three sons, John (Angie) Rushing of Pontiac, Mich,  Leo Paul Rushing & friend Tammy Kirk of Paris, Tenn, and Leon (Mari) Rushing of Paris, Tenn; 7 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild;  and special cousins, Ethel Rose Paschall, Granville Cooley, and Alberta Dennis; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Additional survivors are his best friends, Ricardo Rushing and Pinkie Rushing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Sue Frizzle Rushing;  a son, Daniel Wayne Rushing and a sister, Wanda Sutterfield.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 9 – 11 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016.   The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016, with Carl Butler and Jimmy Allison officiating.  Pallbearers for the service will be Randy Gean, Ray Flowers, Joe Trippiedi, Leon Rushing, John Rushing and Leo Rushing.  Daniel James Rushing will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the following: Mt. Sinai Children’s Ministry, c/o Randy Gean, 120 Dale Cemetery Rd., Buchanan, TN  38222   or     Paris Landing Amvets, 14365 Hwy. 79 North, Buchanan, TN  38222.
