The funeral service for retired district and creamery plant
manager Orville “Doug” Darby Douglas of Buchanan will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal
Church in McKenzie, where he was a member.
Dan Grisham will officiate. Burial will be in
Pound Family Cemetery at Buchanan.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral
Home.
Douglas, 96, died Monday, April
29, 2013, at his residence. His wife, Peggy
Gotcher Douglas, survives. They were married
on Aug. 24, 1949.
Born Jan. 25, 1917, in Durango, Colo., he was
a son of the late Granville Arden Douglas and
Ethel Burnett Darby Douglas.
He retired as district and plant manager
of Knudsen Creamery in California. Douglas was a minister
who filled in for other ministers and an adult Sunday school
teacher for many years.
He also leaves five daughters: Becky (Mark) Bryson of
Puryear, Barbara Pound and Betty Cowen, both of Buchanan,
Shirley Hale of Paris and Beverly (Riley) Ramsey of Hamlin,
Ky.;
Two sisters: Gerlean Weston of Highland, Calif., and Elaine
Baeumel of Texas; one brother: Art Douglas of Redlands, Calif.;
16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a sister: Ida White; and a
brother: Arden Douglas.
