Harry Johnson age 87 of Paris, TN, died Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN.
Harry worked for 40 years as a butcher before he retired. After retirement, he spent several years mowing at his brother’s golf course in Michigan. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and ride horses. Harry was an avid fan of all the Detroit sports teams. He enjoyed watching basketball, westerns, was a member of Faxon Baptist Church, and a United States Army Veteran.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Johnson.
He was born October 18, 1937, in Bloomingdale, Michigan, to the late Verlin Johnson and the late Eva Burke Johnson.
Survivors include his children, Blithe (Alan) Cummings of Casper, WY, Justin (Hope) Johnson of Paris, TN, Dean (Shara) Johnson of San Antonio, TX, Melissa (Kirk) Nergard, and Alan Merritt II; two brothers, Herb Johnson and Ken (Marsha) Johnson, both of Bloomingdale, MI; seven grandchildren, Paisley Johnson, Hadley Johnson, Emily Cummings, Sean (Retha) Cummings, Joshua Johnson, Caitlyn Johnson, and Connor Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Adeline Cummings.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Jim Johnson.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242 will be handling the arrangements. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:00 am at Faxon Baptist Church 132 Pine Grove Road, Big Sandy, TN 38221, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at Faxon Baptist Church with Randy Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be made to any organization that helps Alzheimer’s patients or funds Alzheimer’s research.
