Nell Austin Mcbride

Nell Austin McBride, age 93 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at RoseStone Retirement Community in Paris, TN.

She was a homemaker who was an avid gardener and seamstress.  She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.  She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, was a master at crossword puzzles, and was an avid Duke Basketball fan.

Nell was born January 24, 1924, in Paris, TN, to the late Wilbur Scarborough and the late Nellie Allen Scarborough.

She was married July 24, 1948, to Arlin Norman McBride, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1994.

She is survived by one daughter, Norma (Sam) Knott of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Ginny Knott, Sammy Knott, Shannon Sweeney Fulton, and Michael Sweeney, Jr.; one granddaughter-in-love, Laurie Baker Sweeney; and four great grandchildren, Tyler Sweeney, Gracie Sweeney, Myklan Fulton, and Shilo Fulton.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Dale Sweeney, Sr.; two sisters, Frances Wright and Blyrna Scarborough; and two brothers, Dave Scarborough and Lewis Scarborough.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, where visitation will be Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm in the LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Bro. Jerry Lee officiating.

Pallbearers for the service are Sonny Baker, Frank Rucker, Marshall Helms, Charles McDavid, Tom Bradford, and Jim Breeding.

Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
