Nelda Adkins

Nelda Faye Adkins, age 79 of Clarksville, formerly of Paris, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Nelda was Baptist. She retired from Plumley Rubber Co. in Paris after over 20 years and she formerly worked at Emerson.  She enjoyed eating KFC and coconut cake, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was born September 23, 1938 in Paris, TN to the late Floyd Edward Burnette and the late Nancy Aline Henderson Burnette.

Nelda was married on December 13, 1972 to Cecil Edward Adkins and he preceded in death on July 4, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Lynn (Jane) Barker of Clarksville, TN, and Lavone (Jane) Barker of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; two sisters, Sue Madden of Paris, TN, and Pat Jackson of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Jeff Barker, Valerie Cady, Jessica Barker, Jason Barker, and Devon Barker; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Besides her parents and husband, Nelda was also preceded in death by three sisters, Verleen Burnette, Judy Gail Wright, and Kathy Carol Townsend; four brothers, Floyd Edward Burnette Jr, A.P. Burnette, Raythel Franklin Burnette, and James Alton Burnette; and one great grandchild, Gavin Barker.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  No visitation is planned.  A graveside service will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Bethesda Cemetery with Chris Townsend officiating.   Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Paris, TN.
