Nathan Mitchell “Jim” Hill, age 93 of Paris, TN, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at Morningside of Paris.
He was a longtime member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church in Paris where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Nathan came to Paris in 1968 from Medford, OR, to be with his family. He went to work in plant operations as a foreman for Celotex in Paris until its closing and then became a greeter at Walmart. He was a “jack of all trades” who enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. Nathan was a friend to many and loved by all people he met.
Nathan was born February 28, 1927, in Paris, TN, to the late James William Hill and the late Rosie Brown Hill.
He was married July 1, 1950, to Darrell Cook Hill, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Kathy Ann (Gary) Coplen of Clarksville, TN, and Pamela Kay (Mike) Wallace of Paris, TN; one sister, Carnell Browning of Paris, TN; one brother, Teddy (Brenda) Hill of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Amanda Kaye (Tim) Freeman-Mitchell of Dover, TN, James “Jason” (JoAnne) Freeman of Clarksville, TN, and Trevor Wayne Wallace of Paris, TN; four great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Garnett McFarland, Flossie McKee, and Katherine Browning; and one brother, A.J. Hill.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. A private graveside service will be held with Tim Warren and Chad Kennedy officiating.
Serving as pallbearers Trevor Wallace, Jason Freeman, Tim Warren, Jeff Hill, Charles Shankle, and Tate Warren.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
