Nancy Davis Robinson, age 72 of Memphis, TN, and Paris, TN, went to be with the Lord October 10, 2016 after courageously battling cancer.
A native of Paris, TN, she was the fourth daughter of the late Alex and Gertie Townsend Davis.
Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN, will hold visitation on Wednesday October 12, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at First Baptist Church in Paris, TN, at 1:00 pm Thursday October 13, 2016 with Rev. Paul Veazey officiating, preceded by visitation from 11 am to 1 pm at the church. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris. Pallbearers will be Gregg Veazey, Roger Veazey, Reece Veazey, Evan Parkhill, Bryan Parkhill, and Stephen Austin. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Kesterson, Danny Kesterson, and Mike Robinson. In Memphis there will be a Memorial in Celebration of the Life of Nancy Davis Robinson at Kirby Woods Baptist Church at 1:00 pm Thursday October 20, 2016 with Dr. Jim Collier officiating and Eulogy by Rev. Carol Richardson.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William “Bill” Robinson, who was her high school sweetheart; son, William Hunter Robinson(Wynn) of Memphis; daughter, Heidi Austin (Stephen) of Hendersonville, TN; grandchildren, Lillie Robinson, Caroline and Lindsey Austin; sisters Ailene Parkhill (Roland) and Peggy Veazey (Paul) of Paris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding Nancy in death was her oldest sister, Betty Fraley of Sarasota, FL.
A graduate of E.W. Grove High School in Paris, TN, Nancy continued her education, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of TN at Martin and her Master's degree from the University of Memphis. Through the years, she taught at Memphis City Schools, Briarcrest, and Hutchison School. Not only did she teach, but she tutored quite extensively. She had a deep love for her students. Active and energetic, she played basketball and was a majorette in both high school and college. Also in college, she was a Campus Leader, an ROTC Sponsor, a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. With her family many fun hours were spent on the lake waterskiing. She was always ready for a good tennis game, and as an avid walker, she enjoyed that time spent with neighbors and friends. Her grandchildren were her delight, and she experienced much joy playing and spending time with them.
A student of the Word of God, Nancy for years attended Bible studies, taught Sunday School , and was influential in sharing her faith and spiritually impacting the lives of many. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7 describes her life as a Christian.
