Michael B. “Big Mike” Whitney, age 71, of Mansfield, Tenn., died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.
Mike was a retired automotive mechanic for Fed-Ex. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed horseback riding, horses, and woodworking.
He was born October 18, 1944 in Omaha, NE to the late Sherman B. Whitney and the late Mariom Burber Whitney.
Mike was married on April 14, 1975 to Geneva Lambert Whitney of Mansfield, TN and she survives. He is also survived by his two Sons, Michael (Cathy) Whitney of Wiggins, Miss, and William (Sandy) Whitney of Palm Harbor, Fla; two Step-Daughters, Janet (Ricky) French of Springville, Tenn, Rebecca McClain of Springville, Tenn; two Step-Sons, Donald Sanders of Springville, Tenn, and Ronald Sanders of Mansfield, Tenn; two Grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Taylor and Alyson Whitney; Step Grandchildren, Michael (Alisa) French, Garrett (Taylor) French, Jason (Keicha) McClain, Terri (Scotty) McSwain, Rachel (Michael) Riordan, Whitney Sanders, Carley Sanders, Jessica (David) Mitchell, Richard Webber, and Mike Sanders; Step Great Grandchildren, Libbie French, Lane McClain, Brooklyn McClain, Ranson McClain, Kamryn Smith, Kensliegh McSwain, Tristan Lowery, Addilynn Forrest, and Makayla French.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a Great Grandchild, Jaxon McSwain.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 9 – 11 am Thursday, August 4, 2016. The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 am Thursday, August 4, 2016 with David Gleason officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason McClain, Michael French, Garrett French, Michael Whitney, William Whitney and Daniel Taylor. Ricky French is named as an Honorary Pallbearer.
Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery in Hollow Rock, Tenn.
