Mary Ruth Hurt Perry died Sunday, Jan. 25 at Paris Healthcare after a long illness.
She was born November 19, 1916 in Paris, TN, the Daughter of the late Walter and Nellie Bishop Hurt.
On March 27, 1938 she married William Baxter Perry, her childhood sweetheart, next door neighbor and the love of her life. They were married almost 75 years when Baxter died January 9, 2013.
Mary Ruth loved genealogy, made beautiful quilts for all the children and grandchildren, and wrote lovely poetry. But above all she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by children: William (Gail) Perry of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Charles (Jane) Perry of Paris, Emily (Preston) Duke of Collierville, TN, Elaine Murphy of Grapevine, TX, Susan (David) Stubblefield of Paris, Nancy McAlexander of Cedar Grove, TN; Grandchildren: Teresa Perry Cook, Will Perry, Beth Perry Brewer, Jennifer Perry Cardwell, John Perry, Matt Duke, John Murphy, Kate Murphy Jarvis, Brian Stubblefield, Ben Potts and Josh Potts, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by brothers and sister: Paul Hurt, Hugh Hurt, Bishop Hurt, Gilbert Hurt, David Hurt, and Elizabeth Hurt Parrish.
The Funeral Service will be Graveside at Maplewood Cemetery in Paris on Tuesday January 27, 2015 at 12:00 pm. Dr. Trent Bullock will officiate, Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
