Mary Lee Hill

Mary Lee Hill, age 88 of Puryear, TN, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Regional One Health Center in Memphis, TN.

Mary spent her days making several trips to the Puryear Post Office to keep up with her makeshift library that the post office master set up for her.  She was an avid reader that loved socializing with the Puryear community.  She looked forward to her weekly iced coffee, cake, and thrift store shopping.  Mary enjoyed reminiscing on old family memories to remind her current family of years past.

Mary was born June 26, 1933, in Tiptonville, TN, to the late Ivy Lee Bell and the late Bessie B. Applewhite Bell.

She was married to John Ernest Hill, who preceded her in death on July 1, 1996.

She is survived by three children, Iva (Regina) Dubinsky of St. Augustine, FL, Melissa Rosenberger of Enterprise, AL, and Sherrie Hill of Puryear, TN; four grandchildren, Kristi (Larry) Murphy of St. Augustine, FL, Jennifer (James) Anderson of St. Augustine, FL, Jerry Tibbs of St. Augustine, FL, and Bridgett Hill of Puryear, TN; and friends, Fred Moore and Dale “Red” Paschall.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John Aaron Hill; and two sisters, Emma Jean Dotson and Othella Chesser.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with H.D. Paschall officiating.

Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Hornbeak, TN.
