Mary Edith Barnett, age 87, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.

She was born October 23, 1928, in Irvine, Ky., to the late Gordon Doty and the late Dora Scott Doty.

Edith was married on May 22, 1948, to James "Jim" Dudley Barnett who preceded in death on December 27, 2015. They were married 67 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Garden Club, the Quota Club and the Historical Society. Upon moving back to Paris in early 1970's, she opened the Keepsake Gallery. She received her LPN License in 1971 and retired from Henry County Hospital.  She was a passionate gardener, who enjoyed cooking and was a gold medalist in cycling and swimming in the Senior Olympics.

She is survived by her daughters, Mariann Black of Paris, Tenn. and Brenda Lea (Steven) Dudzinski of Rougemont, N.C.; a daughter-in-law,  Mary Elizabeth Barnett Smith of Paris, Tenn.;  Grandchildren, Sebastian Black of Springville, Qrystyn “Alex” (Anna) Dudzinski of Durham, NC, Dwayne Robert Barnett and Christie Lynn Bizeau both of Paris;  Great Grandchildren, Knox Barnett, Katie Barnett, Sophia Dudzinski, Jacob Bizeau and Alyson Bizeau.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son: James "Jim" Douglass Barnett, sister: Joyce Shrives and two brothers: Johnny and William Doty.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  The Funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, 2016, with Dr. Trent Bullock officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will be at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Tenn.
