Mary Jo Matheny

Mary Jo Matheny, age 78 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, September 24, 2023, at AHC of Paris.

She was a homemaker. Mary Jo enjoyed taking care of her rose bushes and enjoyed cooking. She loved her cat, Daisy. Mary Jo and her husband Jerry loved pulling pranks on her dad.  She was a member of Central Point Baptist Church in Paris.

Mary Jo was born February 2, 1945, in Dresden, TN, to the late Wilbert McWherter and the late Mary Pearl Hopkins McWherter.

She was married February 20, 1965, to the late Jerry Douglas Matheny, who preceded her in death on April 10, 2022.

She is survived by two brothers, Aaron McWherter of Puryear, TN; and Ruben McWherter of Paris, TN; she was loved by her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, and her husband she was preceded in death by one sister Barbara Jean Crittenden and two brothers Evon McWherter and Wesley Green.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN, with Eugene McWherter officiating.

Family members will serve as Pallbearers.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Olive Branch Cemetery.
