Martha Ann McFarland

Martha McFarland went home to Heaven on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was 99 years old.

Martha was known as `MeMaw' by her Grandchildren and other family. Also, the numerous children she babysat over the years in her home knew her as `Mrs Martha'. She loved children and they loved and appreciated her. She was a stay-at-home mother most of her life. Martha was a Nursery Care Worker at her church home, Maplewood Baptist, where she was a member for 70 years. She loved and supported her church by her regular attendance for as many years as possible. She was a paid worker in the children's weekday ministry at the First United Methodist Church until age 82. She and her husband John loved gardening and kept one for many years providing home-cooked meals not only for her family, but others as well.

Martha grew up in Stewart County and moved to Paris as a young teenager. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2008 after 63 years of marriage. Also, her parents, Chester and Harriet Champion, her brother, Goble Champion, sisters, Zanie Hicks, Mary Lynn and Mildred Howell.

Survivors include her son, James (Judie) McFarland of Paris; daughter, Carol (David) Marr of Cleveland, TN; three grandchildren, Jeff (Stacha) McFarland, Clint (Jennifer) McFarland both of Paris; and Josh Taylor of Hermitage, TN; and two great-grandchildren, Keaton McFarland and Sydney McFarland.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with her celebration of life service to be held at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Craig Peevyhouse officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Clint McFarland, Jeff McFarland, Keaton McFarland, David Marr, Ed Howell, and Kenny Cook.  Josh Taylor is named as an honorary pallbearer.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
