Mark Steven Lundquist

March 22, 1954 — November 26, 2023

Paris

Mark Steven Lundquist, age 69 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

At seventeen, Mark entered the U.S. Army.  A decorated Vietnam veteran, he received multiple awards for gallantry as a helicopter crew chief.  It was evident he was very proud to be a veteran who loved his country.

Mark was the owner of A+ Auto Repair in Martin, TN.  He was well respected by his clientele for taking the best possible care of their vehicles entrusted to his shop; building solid and trusted relationships that reaped return business and special friendships.  His formal training was through General Motors where he earned an ASE certification as a Master Auto Technician and where he was recognized as the District Salesman of the Year, a top award honored for excellence in the industry.

A multitalented man, Mark’s work experience was very broad.  Some of his past professions included involvement with the harness race industry, owning a pet store, and working in home repair and do it yourself.  He was a great handyman who mentored his sons and nephews in many areas of home maintenance and construction.

His hobbies and interests were as diverse.  When he lived in Sacramento, CA, he became a Master Mason, a degree conferred by the Sacramento Scottish Rite.  Mark was an avid deer hunter who also enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.  His specialty was making sausage and jerky from the venison he harvested. In addition, he was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed farming and raising animals. He also enjoyed ichthyology which is the study of fish and there was no better way for him to spend a beautiful day than riding his motorcycle with family and friends.

Perhaps one of the blessings we’re given as we age is the time we have to spend with family.  What brightened his day most was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Mark was a wonderful grandfather who especially treasured the memories of being able to spend fun, quality time with his grandchildren, from taking them on tractor rides, attending their ballgames, or celebrating their birthday parties at his home.

Mark was born March 22, 1954, to the late C. Ray Lundquist and the late Marilyn Sorensen Lundquist.

He is survived by his special friend, Sandra Cahill of Paris, TN; five children, Teresa (Michael) Corrington of Burbank, CA, Stacey Lundquist (fiancé Joe Riggs) of Paris, TN, Michael (Shannon) Lundquist of Paris, TN, Steven Lundquist (Makayla) of Martin, TN, and Daniel (Alena) Lundquist of Crozet, VA; two sisters, Cheryl (Michael) Davis of Caledonia, MI, and Lisa Elliott of Auburn, CA; one aunt, Millie Skinner of Venice, CA; eight grandchildren, Max, Everly, Alex, Mila, Fynn, Caden, Luna, and Eleanor; and his faithful companion, River, a Weimaraner dog, who was always by his side.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Zara Lundquist in 2023.
