Marilyn Townsend

Marilyn Joyce Townsend, age 81 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in Paris.

She retired after a 40 plus year career as an insurance agent with Consolidated Insurance in Paris.  Marilyn enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music.  She loved talking about thousands of people that she knew.  She attended Puryear Baptist Church in Puryear.

Marilyn was born May 4, 1939, in Henry County, TN, to the late Jonnie Smith and the late Juliet Doty Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Townsend of Louisville, KY, and Janice Townsend of Los Angeles, CA; one son, Dan (Melanie) Townsend of Paris, TN; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Mathis, Jeanette Reece, Diana Clement, and Barbara Muzzall; and three brothers, John Thomas Smith, William Lucian Smith, and John Everett Smith who died in infancy.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2020, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Saturday, July 11, 2020, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Dale Joyner officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN
