Martha Margaret Leath Blount, age 91 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, March 21 at the Henry County Medical Center.
Born April 16, 1925, in Atwood,TN, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Harwood Leath and the late Callie Mae McDade Leath. She graduated from Trezevant High School then attended Tollers Business College in Paris. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ where she had formerly taught Sunday School and was a “Blanket Day” worker. She was an active volunteer for the Lifeline Bloodmobile and Henry County Helping Hands. In 2001 she was named “Volunteer of the Year” for the Henry County Family and Community Education Club (Homemakers Club).
She was a retired secretary from the Paris Special School District after 15 years of service and had formerly worked at the Mitchum Company, Paris Dairy, ASCS office and the M. Livingston Company.
Margaret married Benton Blount September 5, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1992.
Survivors include her son: Steve (Patsy) Blount of Paris; Grandchildren: Callie Marie Blount of Paris and Ryan Allen (Kristin) Blount of Clarksville, TN and three great grandchildren: Kinsey Mae Blount, Khloe Lyn Blount and Knox Benton Blount all of Clarksville, TN.
Margaret dearly loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and spending time with them. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She made beautiful needlepoint embroidery items and many gorgeous quilts that have become family heirlooms.
Visitation will be held Saturday March 25, 2017 from 4 pm until 7pm and continue on Sunday March 26, 2017, from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 3:30 pm in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with John W. Dale and Brian Wimberley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service are Tommy Wimberley, Everett Moody, Furman Muzzall, Bobby Comer, Jerry Owen, Jerry Scarbrough, Mike McDaniel and Ron Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Callie Blount, Ryan Blount and Kristin Blount.
