Eva Marcettia Norwood, age 78 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin, TN, surrounded by her husband and children.
She graduated from E.W. Grove High School in 1963 where she played basketball and was a Majorette in the band. She completed her Radiology Training at Methodist Hospital in Memphis in 1965 and graduated from Jackson State Community College with an associate’s degree in Sonography in the late 1980's.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and spending time with her special friends. She was an avid Birder and never turned away a stray cat or dog.
She was a Baptist by faith, accepting Christ as a youth with Baptism at Maplewood Baptist Church. She carried her Bible to bed with her every night.
She retired after 24 years working as Senior Sonographer (A.R.R.T and ARDMS) for Henry County Medical Center in Paris. She was passionate about her work, her co-workers and especially her patients.
Marcettia was born January 21, 1945, in Murray, KY, to the late Charles Edward Morris and the late Eva Grey Kirkland Morris.
She was married September 15, 1965, to her husband of 57 years, Lowell Ray Norwood, who survives, of Paris.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer G. (Greg) Knight of Milan, TN; her son, Charles R. (Natalie) Norwood of Paris; five grandchildren, Brett (Paige) Milam, Ross Norwood, DeeGee (Craig) Lax, Mallory Norwood and fiancé West Williams, and Kirkland Norwood; 1 great-grandchild, Forrest Milam with another great-grandchild expected in March. She is also survived by her aunt, Donie Catherine and uncle, Earl Ealey; cousins Jim Ealey, Vicki (McDaniel) Prichard and Sherry (McDaniel) Riley of Benton, KY; and niece, Terri Lyn Cruz. She was preceded in death by aunt, Dot and uncle, Mac McDaniel; and cousin, Steve Ealey.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Memorial visitation will be February 4, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Wimberley officiating.
Named as honorary pallbearers are Joe & Kim Gwaltney, Rhonda Sleadd, David & Sherry Sullivan, Rita Rainey, and Lavelle Davidson.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Paris, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may made in Marcettia's name to a local animal shelter of your choice.
