Lon "L.W." Greer

Lon “L.W.” Greer, age 83, of Leesburg, Ga., formerly of Henry County, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at his  Residence in Leesburg, Ga.

L. W. was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church for 65 years and served as a Deacon.  He was also a U.S. Army Veteran.   He was the former Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor for the Weakley County School System.   He also was a self-employed contract truck driver for the U.S. Mail Service.    He loved Nascar and was a big Richard Petty and Jeff Gordon fan.

He was born December 10, 1932 in the New Boston Community of Cottage Grove, TN to the late Roy Greer and the late Mary Elizabeth Jackson Prince.

L.W. was married on June 5, 1960 to Wanda Fay Thomason Greer, who is from Henry County, presently of Leesburg, GA for 56 years and she survives.  He is also survived by his one Daughter,  Mary Beth Pilkington of Leesburg, Ga;  two Sons,  William Scott Greer of Como, Tenn, and Lon Wescoat (Jerri) Greer, II of Elberton, Ga; one Brother,  Randall (Peggy) Prince of Paris, Tenn;  five Grandchildren,  Abbey Pilkington, Lon Wescoat Greer III, Faith Greer, Emily Greer and Miranda Greer; and two Nephews, Kyle Prince and Adam Prince.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Monday, June 27, 2016.  Visitation will continue from 11 am – 1 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church in the Como Community of Paris, TN.   The Funeral Service will be at Thompson Creek Baptist Church at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016  with Billy Ross and Michael Simmons officiating.   Pallbearers will be Adam Prince, Kyle Prince, Mike Baker, Garth Baker, Stanley Shopher, and Johnny Smith.

Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery between Como and Cottage Grove, Tenn.
