Lila LaVerne Callaway, age 99 of Paris, TN, died September 18, 2021, at AHC of Paris.
She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ and long-time member of Woodward Park Church of Christ in Fresno, California. Lila was a homemaker, loved to garden, and loved fishing. She was very devoted to her family and church.
Lila was born May 6, 1922, in La Mesa, TX, to the late James Ned Loyd and to the late Bertie Bullard Gray.
She was married to Joshua Samuel “Red” Callaway, who preceded her in death.
Lila is survived by her son, Danny Callaway of Paris; daughter-in-law, Patricia Callaway of Paris; son-in-law, Ken Newman; 14 grandchildren, Monte Callaway, Rocky Callaway, Connie (Robert) Crum, Bobby (Dink) Dean, Eddie (Arla) Dean, Sandra (Ricky) Wilson, David Dean, Tina (Troy) Nelson, Rhonda (Chad) Siedhoff, Roxanne Clark, Raymond (Susan) Callaway, Donna (Chris) Couron, Michelle (Matt) Cole, and Chad (Mary) Callaway; 40 great grandchildren, 65 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Garland “Doc” Callaway and Garland J. Callaway; two daughters, Shirley Dean and Vickey Newman; one daughter-in-law, Alice Callaway; one son-in-law, Robert Dean; one sister, Maudie Allene Dunlap; one brother, Clensie Loyd; and three grandchildren, Sabrina (Jerry) Ramsey, Crystal Callaway, and Randy Newcomb.
Arrangements are being arranged by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN 38242. Her body is to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
