Levi Michael Miles was granted angel wings on May 1, 2021, following a lifelong battle with Aicardi-Goutières syndrome (AGS). His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Levi touched in many ways throughout his short, yet very memorable life.
Levi’s life would seem too short by many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeded quantity of time. His big, beautiful smile melted the hearts of anyone who met him, and though he had limited verbal communication, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.
Levi never let his disorder define him, instead he possessed strength, perseverance, and a strong will to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage, he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours rocking in the recliner with mom and dad, ground and pounding, laughing, and cuddling close to those he loved so much. He enjoyed music, arts and crafts, reading books, and playing with friends. He loved the color blue and being outside as much as possible. He looked forward to going to school during the week and taking long walks in the late afternoon with mom and dad.
With Levi’s passing, we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile, he will always remain forever in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents.
Levi leaves behind many wonderful therapists, medical professionals, and friends that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. Levi is survived by his loving parents, David and Shayna Miles, sister Kenna “Sissy” Miles, paternal grandparents Mike “Grandad” Miles and Loretta “Nina” Miles, maternal grandparents Jon “PaPa” Busche and Lisa “Mimi” Busche, aunts April Guess and Alyssa Busche, cousins Ethan Guess and Miley Guess, and dog Maclyn Rae. We are so grateful that friends and family will hold onto precious memories of Levi’s innocent spirit. Levi fought until his last breath; however, his legacy will live on forever.
There will be a visitation open to the public on May 4, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A private funeral service for family and friends will be held at Levi’s parents’ property on May 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
